Troubleshoot common setup issues

Check content, settings and theme behavior before reporting a problem.

A section is blank or a resource is missing

  • Confirm that the section is visible on this device and has the correct content source selected.
  • Check whether the selected product, collection, blog or article exists and is available on the storefront. A collection with no eligible products may render no product cards.
  • Check the template assigned to the actual resource. Previewing a resource in the editor does not assign a new template to it.
  • For a missing section in Add section, use the exact catalog name and the correct group. Template-only sections are not normal addable modules.

An image is blurry or crops badly

Check the uploaded original at full size. Replacing a small image with a larger version of the same thumbnail will not restore detail. Choose a suitable aspect ratio and image fit; use a mobile image or change the focal point when the subject is cut off. Test after saving the image selection.

Heading weight looks unchanged

Check Theme settings → Typography → Heading weight and the selected Heading font. Compare two visibly different weights on a real heading. Some fonts have limited weight variants; a browser approximation can look subtle. Also check whether custom CSS overrides the heading.

Social icons are missing or use an unexpected color

Enter the profile URL in Theme settings → Social media and add the Social media block to Footer. Check its placement and Icon colors setting. Custom colors only apply when Custom colors is selected. Follow on Shop uses Shopify’s native branding and availability, separately from those social icons.

Mobile navigation or the bottom bar behaves unexpectedly

Check the Header’s mobile sticky settings. In Show when scrolling down mode, the bottom navigation does not need to remain visible at the top of the page. It hides while the menu drawer is open and returns after closing and scrolling down. Test links and submenu toggles separately, and check that the menu links point to published destinations.

A form does not submit or no message arrives

First complete every required field and use a valid email address. Native browser validation text can differ by browser language. If the storefront shows success but no expected email arrives, check Shopify’s contact/notification settings and spam handling. A newsletter success state confirms the form response, not that a marketing email was delivered. Do not repeatedly submit real messages just to test a layout.

The storefront shows translation missing

Record the exact text, page, active language and theme version. Check that your published language has the corresponding theme content translated in Shopify’s language tools. If a theme interface string is missing in an included translation, include its exact key in a support request.
